Hi
Sorry to post on your forum in the wrong language, but I am very bad at Spanish and even worse at Catala Imagen
I have the Sclextric/SCX Digital System and it is very good, but we seem to be getting power surges at different parts of the track. There is no consistent reason why. The track is clean and has worked well for 11 months.
Can anyone help. Also one of the Ferraris and the Seat Cupra just stopped working 2 weeks ago (before the power surges) the motors are fine but they just dont go!
I love this system but at the moment it is driving me and my children LOCO !!!!
Thanks for your help
Best regards and Feliz Navaidad

Hi thanks for the fast responses
I have checked that we have enough power and we do. WE have two transformers and have tried them both together and each individually. All ways give the same results!
As far as I know all track is powerline. They are all new Digital System tracks
We run the pit box, lap counter and second control bank, so we can run 6 cars, however we very rarely run 6 cars usually just 3
Thanks

Change the positions of tracks ...
Change one track and test it, change another and test it until it works well...

Hi ska,
1) Which scx-ds set do you have?: Pit box?, DTM?, Rally? (I assume, because of the cars, that you bought Pit box set...)
2) Did you trie with only one unit connected?
3) Which one is the oher unit? Pit box?, normal unit?
4) Have you checked the version of your units? (if they are pitbox, by pressing mode button while you turn on the power, the display will show you your version).
5) What do you experienced with dose two wrong cars? Motor is working because have been tested with another working car?, or guides are working too, becasue have been tested with the other working car?, or You tested the digital chip of those wrong cars with a working one, and nothings happens?
Let us know which tests have you made. But firstly, try to do this few things:
1) clean the rails with ethilic alcohol impregned on a cotton rag.
2) clean the braids (those at the guides) with alcohol.
3) be sure that all tracks have the same power.
4) clean up internal car connections (motor to processor, etc.). Also remove all dust from inside.
Be sure to be free from any shortcircuit.
PS: how long is your circuit?

Hi
Thank you
I have the Pitbox set and the DTM set and a few bits of extra. We have cleaned the track and the cars.
The power surge seems to be intermittent.
I have tried all combinations with the cars I think it must be the Chips are dead. TecniToys say they will collect them and repair or replace them, so that sounds like good service, if they do!!
I will try your suggestions and let you know how we get on.
What sort of alcohol for cleaning? just regular like...er....... cleaning stuff from a supermercado?
Thanks very much for your time and help, its greatly appreciated.
Best regards

Normal ethilic Alcohol 96º.
Appart from the product quality, Tecnitoys has a very efficient service. Be relaxed, don't worry about, because you will have the best service.
Where do you detected the irregular power source? Directly at the rails? What means intermittent for you, a diference of 1v or a flutuatiuon of 5 volts? If its that last one, when?:
1) with cars at tracks?
2) without cars?
3) long circuit and short one have the same result?
4) with both units separately?
May be you have the pit box unit damaged too...
Yo should build a short circuit, and do all kind of tests, in order to rejecta all possibilities.

Thanks I will try all these things.
When I say a power surge, what happens is that the cars suddenly go full speed no matter what you are dojn g on the throttle. The cars fly off the circuit, it normally happens in the same 2 places on the circuit.
Thanks for your help and words about Tecnitoys :)

Lot of us had these problems with the chips, where they accelerate without sense.
Send to tecnitoys the cars, they will replace the procesors. Imagen
Also make all the tests.
Looking to your pictures I've seen a big problem:
1) You cant only have 1 Start Line, in your case take that one from Pit box set. If you have 2 connected to your track, you will have several problems with lap countigs and even with strange functionability.
2) Connect only one unit to power source line (220Vac).
3) Try to avoid humidity under scx tracks, because could improve malfunction. (I say this, because it seems that your floor could retain water)
4) The second unit must only have the interconnection cable between units and the second group of 3 commands. Use only the 3, 4,5, and 6 position track from the second set. (Remember, not the Start track).

I'm very lucky all works fine for you.
It is very useful sometimes to show a picture. Because a picture is better than 1000 words. Imagen
Otherside, congratulations, you have a very nice track. Have fun! Imagen
