Let's see...
1.- Try to unplug and plug in again.
2.- You have the problem in both tracks? If only in one track could be the magnets and the cables around them. Open the switchboard for checking.
2.- I suppose you have pressed start button in the switchboard
3.- You have pitbox or not? In the case you have the pitbox take a look to the switchboard to see if the laps are countered in the display

Hi again ska, Imagen
Did you check if the PitBox unit is counting the laps or not?
Have your lap counter the inscription of PowerLine?
How far away is the lap counter from the central pitbox unit?
Are all tracks from central pitbox unit to lapcounter PowerLine type?
Did you check the lap counter next to the central unit? Did you get same result?
Could you open the lap counter track and verify if the Power Line conector is well welded? (any pictures?)
Could you show some pictures from the circuit and lap counter position?
See you

Veamos
1- intenta desenchufarlo y volver a enchufarlo

(has hecho fotos?)

remember: don't pronounce "potato" like in english, it is poh-tah-toh, just as if you were reading it in spanish... "po" like in police, "ta" like in tantra, and "to", like tokyo

Well
I fixed it, but I don't really know how!
I moved it nearer the pit box control straight, and it started to work on one lane only. So I moved the magnets and reseated the reed switches.
Then it worked. Imagen
But then. I moved a barrier and it stopped working Imagen
I then swapped a standard straight that was with a small 1/4 size straight and it worked and it still is working.
When I say i swapped them I mean i turned them round so the track previously was:
Curve, Standard Straight , 1/4 Size Straight, pit sections ------and now it is:
Curve, 1/4 Size Straight, Standard Straight, pit sections---------and it works!!!!
Thanks for your help guys and if you have any theories why it works now that would be great to, because although It works I don't know why Imagen
Thanks to all

May be a bad Power Line contact....
It would be good to check with a multimeter the continuity of these line.
Think that the lap counter only takes the Power Line signal from one of the two rails. So may be you already have the problem, but you turned the track (unconscious) and now the good rail is that one who gives the signal to the Lap counter.

In Spain we call "Witches" all these irrational things that make electric and electronic things work apparently when they want... to be serious, usually the problem is that it is something too complex or too silly to be pointed, and we fix it or do it bad without knowing, even thinking that we are doing it just in the same way...
in this case, I think djlutz is right, maybe you turned the piece unconscious... just try with multimeter
greets!
